Police said the two were last seen leaving a home in Brule, in a 2002 medium green GMC Sierra pickup truck with Alberta licence plate BSF-3524. Brule is 20 kilometres west of Hinton and about 315 kilometres west of Edmonton.

A spokesperson for Hinton RCMP told CBC News the front licence plate of the truck has a decorative cover that reads YCFD (Yellowhead County Fire Department), but the father is not a member of the fire department.

The boy’s mother was in the house when the alleged abduction took place, but the woman and the rest of the family are safe, RCMP said.

Investigators are asking anyone who sees the truck or Cody Armstrong to call police immediately and not approach the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hinton RCMP at 780-865-5544.
